Queensland worms, flies and lice update - February 2020

Texas: Noel O’Dempsey, Sheep Veterinary Consultant (odempseyn@gmail.com)

Many sheep producers throughout Queensland have received widespread good rain, and at least in the south-east, the rain has extended over a number of days providing suitable conditions for both blowfly and barber’s pole.

ParaBoss released a warning for sheep producers recently to keep an eye out for body strike. Dorper breeders should also be aware that Dorpers can get struck under matted hair.

Barber’s pole will be on the move and sheep producers should be monitoring their sheep closely by regular Worm Egg Counts.

Get in now and service your drench guns, jetting plants etc. to make sure they are still working and delivering the correct dose.
