Until last weekend, there had been virtually no rain in Queensland since March. However, as the rain only came from storms it was patchy and very variable in the quantity received.
Very few egg counts have been done recently and the results have been variable. With the weekend storms, producers should consider worm egg counting in 4 to 6 weeks. They may get a surprise as to how many worms are in their sheep.
As the showers are continuing and some of the gaps are being filled in, it is essential that producers monitor the worm burden in every paddock. Perform worm egg counts (WormTest) in mid–late November.
